Job summary

River Valley Regional YMCA in the United States seeks a Sports Coordinator to assist with the organization and day-to-day operations of youth and adult sports programming, with primary responsibility for the YMCA Youth Basketball League. Qualifications

• Experience in sports, recreation, or related programming.
• Experience with basketball or youth sports preferred.
• Experience with children, families, and volunteers preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and with others.
• Completion of YMCA trainings and certifications within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates day-to-day operations of youth and adult sports programs in collaboration with the Program & Wellness Director.
• Provides on-site leadership for sports programs, including games, evaluations, drafts, and activities, ensuring safety and alignment with YMCA standards.
• Assists with planning and coordination of rosters, practice and game schedules, officials, facilities, equipment, volunteers, and other needs.
• Recruits, schedules, communicates with, and supports volunteer coaches, officials, and program volunteers; ensures required documentation and clearances are completed.
• Acts as a point of contact for participants, families, coaches, officials, and volunteers; communicates information and addresses questions or conflicts with the Director as needed.
• Coordinates program and game-day operations, including facility prep, volunteer coverage, scoreboard needs, and fundraising activities.
• Works with the Director to evaluate, promote, and grow sports programming and develops additional youth and adult opportunities.
• Maintains positive relationships with participants, families, volunteers, staff, and community members; performs other related duties.
