Job summary

The Gateway Region YMCA in Washington, MO is seeking part-time sport staff to monitor and officiate youth and adult sports at the YMCA and off-site locations. You will teach the game rules, ensure safety, and support a positive participant experience.

Requirements include being at least 15 years old, with preference for 1 year of experience with school-age children and some sports knowledge. Entry-level, no certifications required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with school age children preferred
• High School or College level knowledge of sports experience preferred
• Entry level, no certifications required

Responsibilities

• Monitor team sports at the YMCA or off-site locations.
• Teach the knowledge of the game to youth and adults.
• Interpret the rules, policies and traditions of the game to sport participants.
• Be a team player that can relate positively to staff, volunteers and participants.
• Observe participant and fan behavior and respond to health and safety concerns.
• Organize and manage sport setup, cleanup and participate in activities to deliver a quality sports experience.
• Adjust and operate sports equipment including baskets, goals, scoreboards, sound systems and related gear.
• Stay current with applicable sport rules and regulations.
• Show enthusiasm about officiating and teaching the knowledge of the game.
• Move into correct position to see plays on the field or court.
• Perform all other duties assigned.
