Job description

Youth Sports Official Non-Certified - Mid-County YMCA

YMCA of Greater St Louis | Saint Louis, MO 63144

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor team sports at the YMCA or off-site locations.
  • Teach the knowledge of the game to youth and adults.
  • Assume responsibility for interpreting the rules, policies, and traditions of the game to the sport participants.
  • Be a team player that can relate positively to all staff, volunteers, and participants.
  • Observe participant and fan behavior and respond verbally to health and safety concerns, dealing appropriately with any improper behavior.
  • Organize and manage sport setup, cleanup, and participate in activities necessary to deliver a quality sports experience.
  • Adjust and operate all sports equipment as applicable, including but not limited to baskets, goals, scoreboards, sound systems, and any other operations that will contribute to the success of the sports game and league.
  • Contribute to a superior work culture through participation in training and staff meetings to develop leadership, management, and technical skills related to sports.
  • Stay current with applicable sport rules and regulations.
  • Show enthusiasm about officiating and teaching the knowledge of the game.
  • Must be able to move into the correct position to see plays on the playing field or court.
  • Perform all other duties assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be at least 15 years old.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with school-age children preferred.
  • High School or College level knowledge of sports experience preferred.
  • Entry-level, no certifications required.
Compensation Package:
  • 403(b) Retirement Savings.
  • Retirement fund of 12% per pay period after completing 1,000 hours of service during any two 12-month periods.
  • 20% Discount on tuition at Missouri Baptist University.
