Job summary

Aspiranet is seeking a Youth Specialist in Salinas to provide care and supervision for youth at the Receiving Center, supporting family stability and healthy parent-child relationships. The role conducts case management and home visitation services, engaging families through personalized services, workshops, and community resources.

The position is full-time, on-site, Sunday through Thursday 11 PM - 7 AM, for a 6-month temporary assignment within the Family and Community Services department.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with two years' experience working with children/youth in a similar service.
  • Fingerprint and Child Abuse Index clearance required.
  • TB/Health physical, valid driver's license, clean driving record, and proof of insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise youth, including readiness for assessments and activities.
  • Implement youth service plan in coordination with Center team.
  • Identify needs for additional services and communicate findings.
  • Complete youth intake and discharge, including screenings.
  • Administer prescribed medication per standards.
  • Assist youth with personal and hygiene care.

Pay Range: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour

The hourly range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00 for employees hired in the Monterey, Salinas, CA area. The pay range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate for candidates hired within the Central Coast region. Position Summary

The Youth Specialist is responsible for the care and supervision of children and youth placed at the Receiving Center. Major responsibilities include providing care and supervision of youth, completing youth screenings, implementing a youth's service and safety plans, working one on one with youth utilizing interventions in support of identified behaviors, medication administration, documentation, transporting youth, liaison with public health nurse and county social workers, and maintaining the center site

Key Responsibilities
Youth Support
  • Supervise youth, including the youth's readiness for assessments, recreational activities, etc.
  • Work in coordination with Center team members to implement youth's service plan.
  • Identify possible youth needs for additional professional services and communicate such findings in the shift exchange.
  • Complete youth intake and discharge, including screenings.
  • Administer prescribed medication per standards.
  • Assist center youth with personal and hygiene care according to their developmental age.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Complete all required documentation in the database within established timelines.
  • Document youth behaviors and incidents.
  • Document administration of prescribed medication according to agency and licensing standards in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to agency, funder, state, and federal confidentiality standards.
Collaboration & Professional Development
  • Attend team, collaborative, community, and all-staff meetings.
  • Participate in required trainings and supervision.
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid certification and professional boundaries.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma with two years' experience working with children/youth in a similar service.
  • Must meet all state-required conditions of employment, including:
    • Fingerprint and Child Abuse Index clearance
    • TB/Health physical
    • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and proof of insurance
