Job summary

The City of Durango is seeking a Part-Time Youth Soccer Field Supervisor to help run our youth league by preparing fields, supporting coaches and officials, and answering questions from families. You will help games stay on schedule and contribute to a safe, welcoming environment where young athletes can learn, compete, and have fun.

On game days you’ll be the friendly face for players, parents, and referees, coordinating with staff to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with participants, families, coaches, officials, and coworkers.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, or the ability to obtain certification.
  • General knowledge of soccer preferred.
  • Experience working with the public, youth programs, sports, recreation, or customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare soccer fields before games by setting up goals, equipment, and any other materials needed for play.
  • Inspect fields and equipment before each game to help provide a safe environment for players, coaches, officials, and spectators.
  • Coordinate with coaches, referees, scorekeepers, volunteers, and other staff to keep games running on schedule.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, players, coaches, spectators, and officials by answering questions and providing information throughout the day.
  • Help create a welcoming, organized, and enjoyable experience for everyone attending youth soccer games.
  • Monitor player, coach, and spectator conduct and address concerns professionally while supporting the Parks and Recreation Department's expectations for sportsmanship.
  • Document incidents, accidents, or behavioral concerns and notify supervisors or emergency personnel when appropriate.
  • Assist with distributing and collecting program surveys and other program materials.
  • Clean up fields and equipment after games and return supplies to their designated locations.
  • Accurately record and submit time worked and complete required reports.

You'll be the friendly face players, parents, and referees look to throughout the day while helping maintain a safe, welcoming environment where young athletes can learn, compete, and have fun. Essential Job Duties
What You’ll Do in This Role:

Minimum Qualifications
You Have:
  • The ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with participants, families, coaches, officials, and coworkers.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification, or the ability to obtain certification.
  • A general knowledge of soccer is preferred.
  • Experience working with the public, youth programs, sports, recreation, or customer service is preferred.

  • Stay organized and keep games running smoothly, even when schedules change.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently while providing excellent customer service.

  • Can work independently while also collaborating with recreation staff and officials.
  • Take initiative and notice small details that help create a safe, enjoyable experience for participants.
  • Are comfortable working evenings, weekends, and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
