Job summary

Georgia Public Library Service is seeking a Youth Specialist to plan and present literacy-based programs for children and teens. The role emphasizes excellent customer service and helping patrons access library resources and technology.

The position is part-time (25 hours per week) with evening and weekend shifts. Requires a Bachelor’s degree; 1+ year in youth programming; GA driver license. MLIS is preferred and multilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 1+ year(s) experience presenting children’s programs.
• Knowledge of children’s/teen literature and literacy development.
• Strong public speaking and customer service skills; proficient with Google Workspace and databases.
• Valid GA driver license.

Responsibilities

• Plan and present literacy-based programs for children and teens.
• Provide direct customer service to patrons of all ages.
• Conduct reference interviews and reader’s advisory recommendations.
• Help patrons access resources and use Library services and tech.
• Create promotional materials for programs and services.
• Assist with outreach events.
