Job summary

Plainfield Area Public Library seeks a friendly Youth & Teen Services Assistant to join our team. You will welcome families at the Youth & Teen Services Desk, help patrons navigate resources, answer basic questions, locate items, and assist with programs.

This part-time role is 19 hours weekly with Monday 9–4, Thursday 5–9, rotating Fridays/Saturdays 9–5, and one Sunday per month. Pay is $15.74–$16.72 per hour, plus IMRF and EAP benefits. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Two years of related experience working with children in a library or public setting.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
• Basic technology and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

We are looking for candidates with:

• Two years of related experience working with children in a library or public setting
• Fantastic communication and customer service skills
• Attention to detail and organization
• Basic technology and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
• Ability to work 19 hours, including the following shifts:
  • Mondays 9-4
  • Thursdays 5-9
  • Rotating Fridays and Saturdays 9am to 5pm (second and fourth Friday of the month and first and third Saturday of the month)
  • One Sunday a month

This position is scheduled to work 19 hours per week. Pay and benefits include:

• Hourly rate of $15.74 to 16.72 depending on experience
• Participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF)
