Job summary

Dolton Public Library District seeks a Youth Services Coordinator to plan, develop, and deliver engaging library programs for children, teens, and families. You will promote early literacy and lifelong learning in a welcoming, inclusive setting.

Collaborate with staff, schools, and community partners to identify needs and create programs that support education, recreation, and social development. The role includes outreach and representation at local events.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and evaluate programs and activities for children, teens, and families.
• Plan and lead story times, early literacy activities, STEM programs, arts and crafts, educational workshops, book clubs, teen programs, and special events.
• Develop and implement summer reading and other seasonal reading initiatives.
• Provide reference, readers' advisory, and research assistance to children, teens, parents, caregivers, educators, and community members.
• Promote literacy, reading, library resources, digital literacy, and lifelong learning.
• Select, evaluate, and recommend books, media, educational materials, and other resources for youth collections.
• Assist with collection development, weeding, displays, and merchandising of youth materials.
• Build positive relationships with local schools, teachers, childcare providers, youth organizations, and community agencies.
• Conduct outreach visits and represent the library at schools, community events, fairs, and other youth-focused activities.

Job description

The Youth Services Coordinator plans, develops, and delivers engaging library services, programs, and resources for children, teens, and families. This position promotes early literacy, lifelong learning, creativity, and positive community engagement while ensuring that the library provides welcoming, inclusive, and age-appropriate services to young people.

The Youth Services Coordinator works closely with library staff, schools, community organizations, parents, caregivers, and other partners to identify community needs and develop programs and services that support youth educational, recreational, and social development.
