Job summary

Manheim Township Library is seeking a Youth Services Coordinator to support the Youth Services Manager in planning and delivering programs for children and teens. You will create welcoming spaces that promote literacy and equal access to information.

The role emphasizes reader advisory, outreach, and collaboration with staff and community partners, with duties including administration and program coordination. Evening/weekend hours are required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or high school diploma with experience working with children in a library or educational setting
• Preferred: ability to speak a language other than English
• Must pass Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Fingerprint Based Federal Criminal History Check

Responsibilities

• Programming - Assist in the planning of programs and presenting programs, including tween and teen programs
• Reader's Advisory – Guide patrons on reading selections based on age and interests
• Customer Service - Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and assisting with library resources
• Collection Development – Maintain an organized, current, and relevant collection and make acquisition recommendations
• Outreach - Develop relationships with community organizations and educators and participate in outreach activities
• Enforce Code of Conduct and relay significant issues to management
• Address safety concerns and report to management
• Maintain youth services knowledge through continuing education
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical behavior in all library matters
• Administration – Coordinate the Youth Services Department operations, calendars, statistics, registrations, communications, and reports
