Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northwest Suburbs invites you to serve as a Social & Emotional Skills Specialist through AmeriCorps. In this year-long role, you will plan, deliver, and oversee SEL activities for youth, helping them build self-awareness, relationships, and responsible decision-making in a supportive club environment.

You will mentor members, document attendance, participate in trainings on Trauma-Informed Care, and collaborate with staff to strengthen the club experience.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age at the commencement of service.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident.
• Must satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria pursuant to 45 CFR 2540.202.
• Passion for working with youth and supporting their growth and development.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and oversee SEL program experiences for primary and secondary members.
• Facilitate SEL skill-building activities for youth.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to members to develop self-awareness and relationships.
• Build positive, supportive relationships and be a consistent role model for youth.
• Document attendance and report program data to measure impact.
• Participate in Trauma-Informed Care and related trainings to support youth development.
