Job summary

The New Canaan YMCA seeks a fun, enthusiastic, organized and safety-conscious Director of Youth Recreation Programs to develop, plan, supervise, and implement high quality and innovative youth programs, including Camp Y-Ki, school vacation camps, afterschool childcare, and family events.

The Director will aim to meet the social, physical, spiritual, and cognitive development needs of children and strengthen family relationships while upholding safety standards and licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Human Services, or related field.
• Minimum of two years’ experience developing, implementing, and evaluating programs for Youth and families.
• Direct experience planning, supervising and running an outdoor day camp.
• Minimum of three years’ supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of Office of Early Childhood (OEC) licensing regulations for school-age childcare and summer day camps.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, supervise, and implement high quality youth recreation programs.
• Oversee Camp Y-Ki day camp, school vacation camps, and afterschool childcare.
• Coordinate community-wide family programs and events.
