Job summary

Georgia Public Library Service is seeking a Youth Services professional for the Tifton-Tift County Public Library in Tifton, GA. The role centers on planning literacy-based programs, storytimes, and teen programming to engage children and families.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s degree or some college and at least 3 years working with or serving children, plus a valid Georgia driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or some college.
• 3 years experience working with or serving children.
• Valid Georgia Driver’s license and clean/satisfactory 2-year motor vehicle record.
• Satisfactory criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement literacy-based programs, including storytimes and school-age programming.
• Develop and implement innovative programs to encourage library use and enhance the library’s image in the community.
• Execute signature and special programs (e.g., Summer Reading Program, 1000 Books Before Kindergarten).
• Provide excellent customer service with respect, courtesy, and tact to patrons of all ages and backgrounds.
• Instruct patrons, especially children and teens, in the use of library resources.
• Maintain knowledge of organizational procedures, processes, policies, and operations.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and support library goals and objectives.
• Offer reader’s advisory recommendations focused on children and teens.
• Perform in-depth reference service as needed.
• Represent the library at community events and in collecting statistics.
• Commit to weekend and evening hours as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
