Job summary

CitySprouts in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Full-Time Youth Programs Manager to lead its Green Team and design short-term programming for middle schoolers in Boston and Cambridge. The role manages summer programming, staff hiring, curriculum development, and program evaluation while advancing the organization’s commitment to equity and inclusion.

The position reports to the Program Director, is based at the Cambridge office in Central Square, and requires occasional weekend/evening outreach

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience with young people, ideally middle school age, in an out-of-school-time setting and at least one year managing afterschool and/or summer programs.
• Experience cultivating relationships with schools and community partners, particularly in Boston and Cambridge.
• Strong interpersonal skills with youth, families, and peers.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aspects of CitySprouts’ summer program including program design, staff hiring and training, student recruitment, and day-to-day operations
• Deliver programming at events, and fill in occasionally for staff at programs
• Contribute to development and revision of program curriculum
• Track program data and impact
• Ensure that all programming supports and reflects CitySprouts’ mission and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
• Work with the Program Director and Development Director on grant reporting

Full-Time Youth Programs Manager

CitySprouts — Cambridge, MA (Hybrid)

Help cultivate vibrant learning opportunities in our school gardens and beyond!

Join our collaborative team to 1) manage CitySprouts’ Green Team, through which we deliver middle school OST (out-of-school-time) programming in Boston and Cambridge, and 2) design and implement short-term programming for our community members, including middle schoolers, and 3) grow CitySprouts’ reach across Boston and Cambridge youth development spaces. All our programs are designed to foster curiosity, belonging, and equitable access to meaningful learning experiences in school gardens and city greenspaces.

This position reports to the Program Director and is based at our Cambridge office in Central Square. Requires occasional weekend and evening work for outreach events.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: $60,000 – 70,000, depending on experience

What You’ll Do

Program Management

Community Programming/ Partnerships

• Cultivate new opportunities for short-term programming (with middle schoolers and/or the broader community)
• Support the planning and implementation of CitySprouts’ school gardening conference
• Identify and cultivate relationships with schools, community partners, families, and alumni
• Build connections to Boston and Cambridge peer organizations in the youth development space (such as the Agenda for Children in Cambridge and Boston Afterschool and Beyond in Boston)
• Attend outreach events promoting CitySprouts’ work and engaging the community in fun activities that spark their interest in gardening, STEM learning, and growing green communities
• Qualifications

• Are committed to CitySprouts’ mission
• Have 3+ years experience with young people, ideally middle school age, in an out-of-school-time setting and at least one (1) year managing afterschool and/or summer programs
• Have experience cultivating relationships with schools and community partners, particularly in Boston and Cambridge
• Have strong interpersonal skills with youth, families, and peers that reflect cultural humility, respect for differences, deep listening and clear communication
• Have the ability and desire to work independently and as part of a team
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Are detail-oriented, creative, resourceful, and ready to problem solve
• Are committed to ongoing learning and growth
