Job summary

Bethany Athletic Club in Portland, OR is seeking a Youth Programs Assistant to support our After School Team. This part-time role runs Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with responsibilities including supervising children aged 6 weeks to 12 years and providing a safe, engaging childcare environment.

Driving is required occasionally; applicants must be 18+. Pay is $17.00–$17.50 per hour, with benefits beginning for full-time staff as outlined by the club.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Energetic and friendly with a strong work ethic.
• Experience with basketball or other sports preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience when working with children and customers.
• Detail-oriented and organized; team player.
• CPR/First Aid Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Drive as needed to support programming.
• Care for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and fun childcare environment.
• Ensure safe playing conditions and follow security procedures.
• Follow parental directions for feeding, naps, and special needs.
• Inform parents about camp policies and maintain rapport with families.
• Develop and implement activities for children.
• Document incidents and notify relevant staff and parents.
• Perform administrative tasks such as attendance and calls.
• Maintain cleanliness and light janitorial duties.

Job Location: Bethany Athletic Club - Portland, OR, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Bethany Athletic Club, a premier athletic club in Portland’s west side seeks a Youth Programs Assistant to support our After School Team!

Driving Required! Must be 18 years or older.

Pay: $17.00 – $17.50 per hour

Schedule

Monday - Friday 2:00PM - 6:00PM

Responsibilities

• Driving is occasional and as needed to support programming
• Nurtures and cares for children between 6 weeks to 12 years old.
• Provides a clean, safe and fun childcare environment
• Ensures safe playing conditions and follows established security procedures
• Observes specific parental directions for feeding, nap times and other special needs
• Informs parents about the policies and procedures of Summer Camp and maintains a positive rapport with all parents
• Develops and implements activities for the children on an ongoing basis
• Treats children of minor injuries and completes incident reports as well as notifies parents, supervisors and club managers of any incidents
• Perform general administrative tasks as needed such as taking attendance, editing internal paperwork, making phone calls, etc.
• Maintains a clean work environment by performing janitorial duties as required or assigned including but not limited to body fluid cleanup, sanitizing areas and other light housekeeping
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license

• A strong attention to detail, a high level of organization and a willing team player

Qualifications: Language Requirement

All team members must have the basic ability to use computer/smart phone applications for training and company system purposes. Employees must also be able to comprehend written documents such as work orders, safety rules, instructions, policies, and procedures. Also required is the ability of employees to speak and communicate effectively with clients, coworkers and management.
