Job summary

The YMCA of Hamilton is seeking a Youth Program Staff to assist with the care of members’ children while the parent remains on-site or off-site, and to keep the studio area clean. Reports to Program Director. Starting pay is $11.00/hour for a part-time position.

The role includes organizing teen programs, collaborating with leadership, supporting budget needs, and ensuring safe, engaging programs. Must be 18+, HS diploma, CPR/AED/First Aid within 60 days, strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and/or at least 2 years of related experience and/or training.
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification must be obtained within the first 60 days.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and public speaking abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes, Monitors, promotes and leads assigned teen programs within their location and possibly in other locations.
  • Works closely with leadership to ensure that assigned programs are developed and delivered.
  • Assists with continuous improvement efforts focused upon established key Association.
  • Works closely with supervisor to ensure space and resources are available for programs.
  • Participates in staff meetings, development opportunities, and events.
  • Assists in the recruitment, hiring, training of leaders; develops, schedules and directs.
  • Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Assists in maintaining budget through purchasing of equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborates with leadership to ensure safe operation of programs.
  • Assists with philanthropic endeavors of their program/location.

Reports to: Program Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Program Director, the Program Staff is responsible for responsible for the care of members’ children while the parent remains on or off site. Also, responsible for cleanliness of the studio room and its contents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Organizes, Monitors, promotes and leads assigned teen programs within their location and possibly in other.
  • Works closely with leadership to ensure that assigned programs are developed and delivered.
  • Assists with continuous improvement efforts focused upon established key Association.
  • Works closely with their supervisor to ensure that assigned programs have access to the necessary space and/or resources to meet the needs and goals of YMCA programs
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, development opportunities, community activities, and events.
  • Assists in the recruitment, hiring, training of leaders; develops, schedules and directs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma and/or at least 2 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Passionate belief in the Y's cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification must be obtained within the first 60 days
  • Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
  • Highly self-motivated with demonstrated success in program development, project management, and coordinating volunteers.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) competencies needed, including the ability to speak in public, interact with and motivate volunteers, community leaders and staff, and write content for program materials.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain detailed, accurate records.
  • An ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment and engage equally in administrative and outreach duties.
