Job summary

Arc Experience is seeking a part-time Program Leader at Roybal Learning Center in Los Angeles, CA 90026 to guide students after school in social-emotional learning, homework help, enrichment activities, and new adventures each day.

The role requires at least one year in after-school programs, strong communication with kids and families, and background checks (TB Live Scan). English-Spanish bilingual is a plus; vaccination may be requested.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in after-school programs or youth recreation.
• Good communicator who can talk to kids and parents comfortably.
• 48+ college credit units completed OR pass an academic proficiency exam.
• TB test and Live Scan background check required with negative result.
• English-Spanish bilingual speakers preferred.
• Covid-19 vaccination documentation may be requested by the school.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome kids to the program after school.
• Organize and lead activities including homework help, crafts, and games.
• Participate in indoor and outdoor enrichment activities.
• Create clubs for students (e.g., career readiness, cooking, anime, dance).
• Maintain a secure environment by following safety protocols and supervising groups.
• Oversee safety and well-being during after-school activities.
• Encourage participation and adapt activities to meet diverse needs.

Typical Day for a Program Leader

• Greet and welcome kids to the program at the end of their school day.
• Organize and lead activities, including homework help, recreation games, arts and crafts, and educational projects.
• Join in indoor and outdoor enrichment activities.
• Create unique clubs for students. For example, we have a variety of clubs at our schools, including career readiness, cooking, anime, and dance!
• Maintain a secure environment by following safety protocols, monitoring student behavior, and managing group dynamics.
• Oversee the safety and well-being of students during after-school activities.
• Encourage participation and enthusiasm while adapting activities to meet students' diverse needs and interests.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience working in after-school programs or youth recreation, especially in ethnically and culturally diverse communities.
• Good communicator who can talk to both kids and parents comfortably.
• College transcripts that show you have 48+ college credit units completed OR take and pass an academic proficiency exam.
• To get a TB test (and provide proof that it is negative) and pass a Live Scan background check.
• English-Spanish bilingual speaker will stand out.
• If the school requires a Covid-19 vaccination, must provide documentation showing you are fully vaccinated.

Schedule

• Monday to Friday (required)
• M/W-F 3pm-6pm and Tues 2pm-6pm

Ability to Commute / Relocate

• Reliably commute before starting work (required)

The Program Leader position is part-time, non-exempt. This position reports to the Site Coordinator of the school site.
