Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake is seeking a Program Director to oversee planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of programs for elementary-age youth. You will lead staff and volunteers, manage budgets, foster partnerships, and ensure program reporting and grant management.

The position is onsite at Murray, UT with some remote time. The role requires leadership, program coordination, data collection, and regular staff meetings.

Qualifications

Job description

Salary Range: $20+ hourly, DOE, non-exempt

Hours: 40 hours/week; Monday–Friday 10:00-6:30PM, some evenings and weekends required

Location: 244 E Myrtle Ave., Murray, UT 84107, onsite with some remote time possible

Job Summary:

The Program Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a broad range of programs for elementary age youth (2nd-6th grade). The Program Director also provides leadership, supervision, and evaluation to program and volunteer staff. They manage budgets and control expenses as assigned, maintain and seek out positive relationships with community partners, school administration, school district partners, and Club parents. The Program Director is also responsible for administrative tasks such as monthly program reporting, grant management, grant reporting, and frequent program evaluations.

1. Hire and train program staff

  • Work with Club Director on hiring of staff (interview process)
  • Train staff on their job responsibilities, Boys & Girls Club expectations and provides tools and coaching for success
  • Conduct annual staff evaluations
  • Arrange and facilitate training as needed or requested
  • Assist staff in planning and implementation of programs

2. Recruit and maintain Club members

  • Create and maintain excellent rapport with school and school district personnel/administration and community supporters
  • Offer programs that address the needs and interests of Club Members, families, and community

3. Coordinate programs and activities

  • Create and maintain a structured schedule for staff, youth, and parents
  • Plan programs that meet the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake goals, objectives, and grant requirements
  • Plan and facilitate national programs as required

4. Manage finances

  • Responsible for maintaining the budget set for the program
  • Responsible for managing expenses and managing supply budget

5. Safety and guidance of all Club members

  • Provide guidance to all youth to help them in their personal development
  • Address challenging or concerning behaviors
  • Create safe environments for all youth
  • Keep program spaces clean and organized

6. Meetings

  • Participate in regular meetings, coaching, and training with supervisor
  • Coordinate weekly meetings with staff for updates

7. Data Collection

  • Calendars
  • Monthly Reports
  • Membership Data
  • Complete all paperwork as needed in a timely manner

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles related to the development of youth specifically between the ages of 8-12
  • Understanding of group dynamics as well as Boys & Girls Clubs’ Youth Development Strategies, Mission Statement, Core Beliefs, and Core Characteristics
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of effective guidance and discipline for youth and adults
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate, and supervise staff
  • Two-year college degree or at least two years' related experience in youth service and management
  • Must be knowledgeable in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office

Other Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old (for driving requirements)
  • Must be able to drive 15-passenger vehicles and have a good driving record
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and MVR check
  • Must be able to pass Drug Screening
  • Be CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to become certified within 30 days of hire
  • Willing to obtain valid Food Handler’s permit as required
  • Be able to function for more than 2 hours on your feet
  • Be adaptable and flexible to change
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
