Position Summary

The Youth Program Counselor guides and ensures the safety of children as they engage in camp activities. Assists with activity planning and receives special training to fully support kids' needs during their stay at the camp. Works with children, co-workers, and other staff to provide a safe and beneficial summer day camp experience in a Christian environment. To help provide a fun and safe place for youth to play and learn values that will stick with them for a lifetime.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide sports, arts, education, and mentoring programs for youth ages 5 to 16.
  • Help with the day-to-day activities of the Fusion Program, such as recreation activities, tutoring, supervising the homework room, and encouraging teens to attend youth group events.
  • Follow all safety precautions and procedures.
  • Assist with maintenance of all areas used by the program.
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of daily snacks.
  • Support the director as needed.
  • Keep records to ensure program evaluation and certification requirements are met.
  • Communicate critical issues to the Family and Youth Ministries Coordinator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma / GED or equivalent training and experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children preferred.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Ability to collaborate on social issues within kids, families, and communities.
Computer Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint.
  • Willingness to learn new software.
Certificates and Licenses
  • Complete Safe From Harm training and keep it current.
