A leading nonprofit organization is seeking a Youth Program Coordinator responsible for planning and implementing enrichment activities for children in grades K-5. This part-time role requires experience in group leadership and offers an inclusive work environment focused on diversity and community engagement.
Youth Program Coordinator: 30 hours per week - Landfall
The FamilyMeans’ Youth Development program is currently seeking a Youth Program Coordinator. The primary purpose of this position is to plan, provide and assist in evaluating age-appropriate enrichment and recreational activities for children grades K-5; ages 5 – 11. This position provides a variety of enriching activities to a wide age range of children on a daily basis, instills positive social skills and a responsibility ethic in children, and supervises programming in, and care of, the elementary portion of the agency’s Youth Center. The incumbent would work 30 hours per week, between the hours of 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and would report to the agency’s Youth Program Manager. Hours can be shifted earlier on no school/summer day, as approved by the Youth Program Manager.
Position Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to plan, provide and assist in evaluating age-appropriate recreational and enrichment activities for children grades K-5; ages 5-11.
Major Challenges:
The major challenges of this position are to provide a variety of attractive activities to a wide age range of children on a daily basis and to instill positive social skills and a responsibility ethic in children.
EssentialJob Functions:
1. Plan and implement activities that encourage personal and social growth for youth.
2. Develop children’s positive relationship and conflict resolution skills and personal resilience through activities, mentoring and/or role modeling.
3. Supervise/coordinate additional program personnel
4. Acquire and manage supplies
5. Support evaluation/grant/reporting efforts.
6. Assist in establishing and maintaining connections with participants’ families and the greater community.
Other Job Duties:
As with all FamilyMeans staff positions, this position is responsible for helping ensure volunteers and interns have an exemplary experience during all interactions with FamilyMeans, and is expected to consistently maintain a high level of customer service to all guests, clients, and fellow team members.
Participate and contribute in the agency’s PQI process.
Relationships:
The incumbent reports to the Director of Youth Programs. This position provides work guidance and direction to the Program Assistant, program partners and volunteers.
Equipment Used:
Computers; camera and video equipment; telephone; automobile; kitchen appliances; hand tools, art tools and cooking utensils.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education and Experience-
A high school diploma is required. Strongly prefer a Bachelor’s degree in a human services field such as School-Age Care, Child/Youth Development or Elementary Educationor alternatively; a Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field; an Associate of Arts degree or 2 years of college in a related field; and 6 credit hours or more of professional preparation in child and youth development or other areas related to School-Age Care programming. A new incumbent will possess a minimum of one year’s experience as a group leader or assistant group leader in a school-age care program.

Training Requirements-
This position requires current certification in First Aid and/or CPR; a Class D Driver’s License to transport youth by bus, and in-agency training on proper bus operation, record keeping and maintenance.
Physical Aspects of the Job:
