Job Description

MU TITLE: Educational Program Associate I
LOCATION: Worth County - Grant City, MO

The University of Missouri (MU) Office of Extension and Engagement's land-grant mission is to improve lives, communities, and economies through relevant educational strategies across Missouri. Our faculty and staff collaborate with researchers and community leaders to develop programs addressing educational attainment, environmental concerns, community and economic development, global food systems, and health systems. The MU Extension 4-H Center for Youth Development focuses on developing communities of young people learning citizenship, leadership, and life skills. 4-H is supported by public and private resources to enrich learning experiences for youth and adults. This position will assist in planning, managing, and supporting 4-H Youth Development programs in the assigned area, under the guidance of the 4-H Youth Development Specialist. It is a 16-20 hours/week position, spanning 9 months (August to May), focusing on in-school and after-school programming.

Essential Duties
  • Advocate for positive youth development within the community and MU Extension.
  • Build and expand partnerships with schools, community centers, and youth organizations.
  • Collaborate with other UM Colleges and Missouri Extension programs to grow the 4-H program.
  • Assist with curriculum planning, management, marketing, implementation, and evaluation, including face-to-face and online activities.
  • Develop volunteer and community partner capacity, fostering relationships for program growth.
  • Engage and empower volunteers and partners to implement 4-H programs effectively.
  • Develop youth leadership capacity.
  • Manage financial and in-kind resources.
  • Coordinate educational events, contests, camps, and programs using positive youth development approaches.
  • Promote statewide and national events and contests.
  • Report on program impacts and accomplishments.
  • Assist with record keeping and reporting of 4-H programs.
  • Ensure accessible participation in extension programs.
  • Participate in training and professional development.
  • Conduct activities in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Leadership and Attributes

Supervision is received from the assigned Field Specialist/Educator. The position does not involve supervision of others. Core attributes include professionalism, effective communication, self-direction, adaptability, and ensuring safe, inclusive environments.

Shift

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., 16-20 hours/week, aligned with the school calendar. Flexibility for travel and some evening/weekend work is required.

Minimum Qualifications

An associate degree or equivalent education and experience, with some relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Six or more hours in youth development domains, experience working with youth in group settings, ability to travel and work flexible hours, self-motivation, and initiative.

Compensation

Salary: $15.00 - $17.00/hour
