Job summary

The Salvation Army's New London Corps is seeking a positive Christian role model to supervise youth during the 3:00 pm-6:00 pm program, Monday through Friday. This part-time position (15 hours/week) focuses on creating a safe environment, guiding activities, and supporting planning and outreach under the supervision of staff.

Responsibilities include developing programs, attending events, completing reports, and engaging with parents and local schools.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent with youth work or volunteer experience.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
• Must be a positive role model with good character and leadership.

Overview

Location: New London Corps, Red Shield Youth Center

Hours Per Week: 15

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 3:00 pm-6:00 pm

Scope of Position: Serve as a positive Christian role model in the lives of children. Create and maintain a safe physical and emotional environment, directly supervise children during program hours, and assist with planning and implementing program areas.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating and implementing programs that enhance youth members' spiritual, physical, and emotional development.
• Attend and chaperone Corps, Divisional, and Territorial retreats and events.
• Complete accident or incident reports, in accordance with procedures.
• Complete any required or mandated training and professional development.
• Complete daily reports on department activities and attendance.
• Develop and maintain contacts with young adults and teens at local colleges and high schools, where permitted.
• Develop and maintain practical approaches to fostering solid Christian living among children, teens, and younger adults.
• Engage and inform parents about community resources, opportunities, and youth members' expectations.
• Help with summer Vacation Bible School outreach.
• Implement and actively supervise programs, services, and activities for youth members.
• Promote a physically and emotionally safe environment for youth members.
• Provide guidance and positive role modeling to youth members.
• Provide homework and power-hour support.
• Stimulate youth members' interest and positive participation in activities.
• Work with employees and officers on special events and programs in other areas of the Corps.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent with relevant youth work or volunteer experience required.

• Must share a vision for The Salvation Army's philosophy for youth ministry.
• Self-motivated and strong communication skills.
• Valid driver's license.
