Job summary

Bridges Homeward is seeking a Permanency/Life Skills Specialist to support youth aged 18 to 22 in our YASL program in the Greater Boston area. You will develop and facilitate a permanency-focused life skills curriculum and coordinate group sessions to build independent living skills.

You will work closely with a Support Specialist, organize family involvement, and connect youth with services to support education, employment and housing goals.

Qualifications

• Associates degree plus 3 years experience working with high-risk youth or Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience working with high-risk youth in milieu treatment; residential services experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the youth's assigned Support Specialist to ensure permanency practice is occurring for every resident in the YASL program.
• Ensure groups and holiday celebrations honor residents' culture, religion and identity.
• Use specialized assessment tools to identify goals related to permanency, behavior, education and vocation; develop a transition plan with the youth.
• Coordinate with community providers to lead group sessions on adult living skills, money management, self-care, meal planning, housekeeping, communication and employment.
• Identify services and resources to maintain stable relationships and housing, and support coping skills and medications as needed.
• Provide coaching and support to Support Specialists to increase permanency and life skill development.
• Other duties as assigned
