Job summary

Waypoint Maine, Inc. seeks a Youth Peer Support Specialist to provide peer-based support to youth in the Children’s Behavioral Health Home (BHH) program. The YPS is a young adult with lived experience, engaging in team-based care and contributing to the Plan of Care.

The role emphasizes recovery-oriented, strength-based services to promote self-advocacy and coordinated care, with ongoing team collaboration and documentation in alignment with BHH standards.

Qualifications

• Must be 18–30 years old per policy.
• Must have lived experience with behavioral health services.
• Strong communication and boundaries with youth.
• Must have reliable vehicle and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships with youth in the BHH program.
• Assist youth and the care team with the Plan of Care.
• Provide one-to-one youth peer support focusing on hope and self-determination.
• Coordinate and facilitate youth peer support groups and activities.
• Participate in the BHH multidisciplinary team and contribute peer perspectives.
• Maintain prompt, regular communication with youth and stakeholders.
