Job summary

Cottonwood Baptist Church of Lorena seeks a part-time Youth Minister to lead grades 7–12 with an emphasis on discipleship and relational growth. You will design and oversee youth activities, teach Sunday school, and guide student leaders under the pastor's direction.

The role requires faithful affirmation of Baptist beliefs, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work with families, volunteers, and the church staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Church bus driver certification / endorsement preferred.
• Must affirm The Baptist Faith and Message, 2000 version.
• Have a sense/call and passion for working with youth and team members.
• Exhibits spiritual maturity and high moral and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement the design of the youth program under the pastor's direction.
• Provide leadership in teaching Sunday school, discipleship training, and Wednesday night activities.
• Train, equip, and nurture the leadership of the Student Ministry.
• Integrate students into the church body for service and discipleship opportunities.
• Support the overall direction and program of Cottonwood Baptist Church.
• Work with the youth committee to coordinate youth events and programs.

Job Description

Job Title: Youth Minister Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Reports and Responsible to: Pastor Part-time position

Primary Purpose:

Develop and provide spiritual, relational, organizational, and administrative leadership to the youth (grades 7-12) with Discipleship being a priority

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED

Church bus driver certification /endorsement

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Must affirm the “The Baptist Faith and Message, 2000 version” without reservation

Have a sense/call and a passion for working with youth and team members

Have spiritual maturity and high moral and ethical standards (1 Timothy 3:2-7, Titus 1:6-9)

Be friendly and enthusiastic

Have effective organizational, communication, interpersonal, and verbal skills

Have effective computer/technology skills

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Plan and implement the design of the youth program under the direction of the pastor
2. Provide leadership in teaching Sunday school, discipleship training, and Wednesday night activities
3. Train, equip, and nurture the leadership of the Student Ministry
4. Integrate students into the church body for service and discipleship opportunities
5. Support the entire direction and program of the church
6. Work with the youth committee in carrying out the spiritual and social programs as needed
7. Encourage and provide learning opportunities for parents of the youth
8. Coordinate (with the assistance from the youth committee) special events or programs such as: youth emphasis services, retreats, evangelism, mission endeavors and camps
9. Plan all youth committee meetings and coordinate with the pastor’s secretary to avoid conflicts with other committee meetings
10. Be responsible for the basic care of the youth building and church bus after its use
11. Attend training and/or professional development as needed or required
12. Submit receipts and invoices to the treasurer in a timely manner
13. Advise the pastor of any absences (anticipated or not)
14. Be responsible for other duties as assigned by the pastor
