Job description

YOUTH PASTOR

Hillside Church – Bloomington, MN

HillsideSearch@HillsideMN.org

At Hillside Church, we believe God is actively at work renewing all things—and we want to join Him.

Our vision is simple and bold: Join God in making all things new for His glory and our good.

Our mission is clear: Make disciples here, near, and far.

Hillside Church is a growing, gospel-centered church in Bloomington, Minnesota (500–600 in weekend attendance). We are deeply committed to disciple‑making across every generation and are building a unified Next Gen discipleship pipeline from childhood through adulthood.

We are seeking a full‑time Youth Pastor to lead our middle school and high school ministry. This role is both deeply pastoral and strategically developmental, focusing on helping students become lifelong disciples of Jesus who make disciples of others.

We recognize that strong youth pastors come with different strengths—some are more naturally pastoral and relational, others more organizational and systems‑driven. We are looking for someone who is strong in one and growing in the other, and who is eager to develop into a fully formed shepherd and builder over time.

Student ministry is not isolated at Hillside—it is the midpoint of a broader discipleship pipeline that begins in Children’s Ministry and continues into adulthood.

Our student ministry is shaped by four core values:

  • Be With God– Students grow in personal relationship with Jesus
  • Grow in Community– Discipleship happens in relationships
  • Serve the Church– Students actively participate in church life
  • Live on Mission– Students are equipped and sent to share the gospel

If you are energized by discipling students, equipping leaders, building healthy ministry systems, and helping the next generation become lifelong followers of Jesus, we would love to hear from you.

Role Overview

The Youth Pastor will oversee all aspects of middle school and high school ministry, including weekly gatherings, volunteer leadership development, parent partnership, discipleship environments, and mission engagement.

This role reports to the Discipleship Pastor and works closely with our Children’s Ministry team to ensure a clear and healthy transition from children into student ministry. The Youth Pastor supervises a part‑time youth ministry staff member and oversees the student ministry budget. The Youth Pastor will also have occasional preaching opportunities in the main gathering (2‑3 times per year).
