Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake in Midvale, Utah, is seeking a Youth Development Professional (YDP) to help deliver engaging activities for youth aged 6-12, guided by our three outcomes: academic success, good character, and healthy lifestyles. The role emphasizes mentoring, safe supervision, and building supportive relationships.

Hours are 25 per week (Mon–Thu 2:00pm–6:30pm, Fri 12:00pm–6:30pm) with a pay range of $15–$17 per hour and potential for more hours in summer.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in high-energy, loud, and active settings with large groups of youth and teens.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and accomplish them in a detailed, timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement daily group activities with youth ages 6-12.
• Transport youth in Club vehicles (school pick-ups, fieldtrips, etc.).
• Ensure engagement and promote consistent attendance of youth enrolled in activities.
• Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance, and role modeling to support their leadership development, artistic skills, physical activity engagement, and academic progress.
• Provide active supervision, continually interacting with all members.
• Submit regular lesson plans, attendance sheets, and other paperwork responsibilities.
• Plan special events, such as guest speakers, performances, or field trips.
• Abide by and carry out safety policies and procedures.
• Attend local trainings.

Using our three priority outcomes - academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles - as a guide, Youth Development Professionals run programs, offer support, and ensure that every Club Member has an Optimal Club Experience that sets them up for lifelong success.

Successful YDPs have a passion for serving others and contributing to the well-being of the community at large. Youth Development Professionals have the ability to connect with young people and offer supportive relationships. They are team players willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that Club Members are safe, recognized, and given the opportunity to learn new skills.

Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities):

• Plan and implement daily group activities with youth ages 6-12
• Transport youth in Club vehicles (school pick-ups, fieldtrips, etc.)

Requirements:

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
• 21 years and over (to meet driving requirements), and be willing and able to drive 15-passenger vans
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check, MVR check, and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual Spanish/English
