Job summary

Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic childcare professional for the 2026-2027 school year. The role offers a pay range of $16.00–$16.50 per hour and the chance to nurture kids, engage with families, and contribute to a positive learning environment.

This position requires a high school diploma or enrollment in child development coursework, plus 2+ years of childcare experience. Applicants must pass all necessary clearances and trainings while promoting inclusivity and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or enrollment in 2+ years of child development coursework.
• 2+ years verified child care experience.
• Prior experience working with children (professional, volunteer, or familial).
• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment.
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances and trainings (e.g., 6 hours of child care trainings annually).

Responsibilities

• Find new and engaging ways to help kids learn while maintaining safe environments.
• Implement curriculum for program with developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
• Provide quality adult/child interactions with positive feedback and open-ended questions.
• Use positive reinforcement for behavior management and redirection.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and keep timely updates.
• Maintain attendance records, emergency binders, allergy reports, and required paperwork.
• Ensure centers have quality learning materials and organized learning centers.
• Attend team-planning meetings monthly or more as needed.
