Job summary

The Youth Development Specialist at Family Support Services of Amarillo helps young people discover their voice, strengthen confidence, and contribute to their communities in Amarillo's 79107 area. This role delivers Community Youth Development programming, leads school and community groups, and builds welcoming, safe spaces for youth and families.

The position requires travel between schools and community locations, occasional evening/weekend activities, and collaboration with teachers,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or related degree is preferred.
• Experience with youth, families, schools, or prevention programs preferred.
• Ability to connect with middle/high school students while maintaining boundaries.
• Strong facilitation, communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the service area.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate evidence-informed and curriculum-based programming related to leadership, healthy relationships, conflict resolution, emotional wellness, and youth development.
• Lead Youth Leadership Development groups, girls groups, after-school programming, and related services at schools and community locations.
• Build positive relationships with youth while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Create environments where participants feel respected, included, and encouraged to take healthy risks.
• Adapt activities to meet diverse learning styles, development levels, and cultures.
• Coordinate with teachers, caregivers, and partners to plan events and services.
