Job summary

The YMCA of Honolulu is seeking a Youth Leader for the School Year 2026-2027 A+ After School Program to supervise participants and support planning across several elementary sites. The role involves leading age-appropriate activities, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment, and collaborating with site coordinators, youth directors, DOE and DHS contacts.

Qualifications include being at least 18, with a high school diploma; experience with school-aged children is preferred; strong

• Must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience with school-aged children preferred.
• Ability to supervise and serve as positive role model.
• Reliable and dependable; able to work flexible schedule.
• Excellent communication, oral and written.
• Ability to develop positive relationships across backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist Site Coordinators and Youth Directors in program operation and supervision.
• Lead age-appropriate learning experiences in classroom or group settings.
• Develop new activities age-appropriate; collaborate with others.
• Facilitate inclusive programming and positive play.
• Communicate with participants, parents, DOE and DHS contacts.
• Ensure health, safety and welfare of children.
• Model YMCA values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility.
• Maintain participant records and documentation.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; accept feedback.
• Maintain facilities, equipment and supplies.
• Enforce rules and expectations.
• Wear nametag and adhere to dress code.
• Attend meetings/training sessions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
