Catholic Charities of New York is seeking a Community Advocate to support marginalized youth in school and community settings, drawing on lived experience to promote resilience and self-transformation.

You will mentor youth, provide conflict mediation, and help with career explorations, while participating in violence prevention initiatives and community meetings. This part-time role runs Monday to Friday from 1 PM to 6 PM with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Education and experience requirements are specified in the listing.
• At least a High School Diploma is required and two years of youth-development/anti-violence experience are preferred.

Responsabilités

• Manage a caseload of five marginalized youth.
• Schedule one-on-one sessions in a safe, appropriate space.
• Engage youth through daily outreach strategies.
• Participate in school and community meetings as violence prevention facilitators.
• Facilitate weekly violence prevention programs in schools and communities.
• Develop and maintain referral systems to support youth and families.
• Design and engage youth in positive programming and events.
• Assist youth with employment and education attainment.
• Attend court for youth advocacy and well-being.
• Collaborate with partners for conflict resolution and healing.
• Participate in local peace and street mediation efforts.
