Job summary

The State of Florida's Juvenile Justice agency seeks a Juvenile Probation Officer in Ocala to provide social services for rehabilitation of juvenile offenders on probation or in custody. You will conduct home/school visits, assemble collateral information, and complete required screenings and reports.

The role emphasizes risk/needs assessments, coordinating services, and presenting supervision recommendations to the State Attorney and partners to ensure appropriate, least intrusive interventions.

Responsibilities

• Initiate contact with the youth, family, victims, and law enforcement when referrals are received; conduct home and school visits as part of information gathering and family involvement.
• Obtain and review collateral information from agencies involved with the youth/family (abuse history, education, mental health, substance use, gang activity).
• Conduct and document FDJJ screenings to identify risk, needs, protective factors, and need for further evaluations (e.g., detention intake, Suicide Risk Screening Instrument).
• Formulate case management strategies based on assessments to address youth and family needs.
• Refer services to appropriate providers and follow up actions.
• Make supervision and treatment recommendations to the State Attorney and other partners for least intrusive services.
• Complete screening instruments and reports used by the Department and courts (DRAI, SRSI, risk/needs screenings, case plan, etc.).
