Job summary

Good Shepherd Services in Brooklyn, NY, seeks an Internship and Career Coordinator for the Boys and Girls YABC at Boys & Girls High School. This role develops an internship experience to empower students for life after high school.

You will run job readiness activities, coordinate placements, and track progress through evaluations in collaboration with DOE. Evening/weekend shifts and site travel are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience working with adolescents in employment or vocational field in 1:1 and group sessions.
• Strong organizational, teamwork, verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to travel to GSS Program Sites throughout the respective borough.
• Ability to work weekends, including overnight when necessary.
• Commitment to a strengths-based and youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

• Outreach to internship providers and employers to identify and secure internship and employment opportunities for students.
• Create and maintain internship opportunities based on student interests and local opportunities.
• Match and place participants into placements and track progress through evaluations.
• Oversee placement and monitoring of participants at internship sites and obtain employer feedback.
• Develop curriculum and facilitate weekly seminar groups for students in internship placements.
• Identify tools to assess work readiness and skill development.
• Onboard interns into payroll system and manage timesheets and hours.
• Orientate new student interns regarding internship practices, policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with Advocates to align student support with graduation goals.
• Liaise with post-secondary team on job readiness topics.
• Attend division-wide meetings with Internship Coordinators and staff.
• Ensure Salesforce documentation and other statistics are accurate.
