Job summary

The Southeast Ventura County YMCA seeks a Youth Sports Instructor at Yarrow Family YMCA. This part-time role requires planning and teaching youth sports classes while encouraging participation and modeling techniques.

Qualified candidates must be 18 and older with CPR/AED/First Aid certification, and possess knowledge in at least 2–3 different sports. The instructor will also need to communicate effectively with students and their guardians.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach youth in at least 2 different types of sports classes, using your sports experience and education.
• Interact with and encourage the children to participate in the activities during classes.
• Teach and model appropriate techniques and skills.
• Communicate effectively with students in a patient, friendly manner.
• Show how you are a positive role model.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 or older.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification from one of the following organizations: American Safety & Health Institute, American Heart Association, American Red Cross.
• Knowledge and expertise in at least 2–3 different sports.
• Ability to communicate effectively to youth participants and their parents/guardians.
• Ability to plan, lead and participate in sports activities.
• Ability to lift equipment and lift a small to average‑size child.
• Ability to see and supervise children.
• Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper sports techniques.
• Availability weekdays or Saturdays between 9:00 am and 11:00 am and/or 3:00 pm – 6:30 pm.
