Job summary

Erie Family Health is seeking a School-Based Health Educator (Lakeview) in Chicago, IL to provide sexual health, nutrition, and substance-use education to students and patients while supporting health campaigns and outreach.

This paid, year-long AmeriCorps program includes on-the-job mentorship to build leadership capacity, a full-time schedule, and an education award upon successful completion; it begins 09/21/2026 and ends 08/31/2027, with placement at Erie’s school-based health sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates 1:1 nutrition/health coaching meetings with students.
• Implements health education curriculums for students in schools and community organizations.
• Coordinates vision specialists to see students at school.
• Coordinates the Advocate Dental Van to see students at school.
• Develops monthly adolescent health topics for bulletin boards and newsletters.
• Hosts health promotions activities in the lunchroom and at school events.
• Supports promotion, recruitment and engagement of Erie’s School Based Advisory Board and the Youth Advisory Committee.
• Facilitates projects with school-based health leadership to decrease barriers and increase engagement.
