Job description

Lesson Times: 4pm-6pm

Position Title: Youth Fitness Instructor

Position Status: Part time

Position Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Youth Programming Manager

Supervises: None

Position Detail:

The Youth Fitness Swimming Instructors are responsible for teaching the youth swim lessons offered at Gold's Gym. They are responsible for teaching the youth how to navigate the water safely with breath work, floating, and swimming.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Contributes to create lifelong fans of fitness.
2. Maintain info on club history, background, philosophy, facilities, staff and policies.
3. Has a thorough knowledge of, adheres to, and enforces company policies, and procedures, as they pertain to gym operations.
4. Contributes to the gym and the employees overall success.
5. Teach youth Swim Programs.
6. Attend all required meetings.
7. Be familiar with the members of the club and be visible to them.
8. Assist with special youth fitness related club and community events as requested.
9. Help promote youth swim programs.
10. Maintain up-to-date certifications when required.
11. Ensure children’s safety at all times.

Education/ Skills/ Certification:

1. Current CPR
2. Must demonstrate good communication skills, oral and written.
3. Knowledge of instructional techniques.
4. Current Swimming Certifications
5. Knowledge of safety around pool area and water.

Supervision:

1. Supervise youth swim participants.
2. Monitor class participants to ensure safety and proper swim technique.
3. Monitor class participants to a minimum of 5 participants/class monthly averages.
4. Monitor equipment use, storage, and condition.
