Job summary

CarePlus NJ, Inc. seeks a Youth and Family Peer Recovery Specialist to deliver behavioral health care and substance use treatment for children, adolescents, and young adults 0-25 and their families. The role is based on-site in Fairlawn with a 40-hour weekly schedule as listed above.

The position emphasizes peer support, advocacy, and connection to recovery resources, with opportunities for group facilitation, mentoring, and community engagement in a dynamic youth-focused team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and peer service experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in behavioral health related field preferred.
• Valid driver's license; insurable under Agency automobile insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing peer support and advocacy to respect client autonomy.
• Connect clients to resources, experiential sharing, and assist in relationship building.
• Provide group facilitation, skill building/mentoring/goal setting, and socialization/self-esteem building.
• Assist clients with education/awareness of community resources, coping skills, and individual strengths.
• Assist in establishing and sustaining a social environment supportive of recovery.
• Enhance identification and participation in the recovery community.
• Advocate for appropriate and effective community treatment and recovery.
• Empower individuals to make self-determined and self-directed choices about their recovery pathway.
• Provide support with face-to-face sessions and/or telephone support based on the individual's personal choice.
• Help individuals maintain healthy community, family and social functioning.
