Service Works is a restorative youth diversion program that helps young people complete community service obligations while building accountability, life skills, confidence and stronger connections to their communities.
Service projects may include nonprofit support, park and community cleanups, gardening, beautification, light repair, maintenance and other hands-on activities.
LearningWorks is seeking a Youth Diversion & Community Service Coordinator to work directly with youth completing community service and restorative diversion plans throughout Cumberland and York Counties.
This is a hands-on, community-based role. You'll work alongside young people during service projects while helping them develop workplace skills, accountability, communication and confidence.

You do not need a traditional criminal justice background to succeed in this role.
Supervise, mentor and coach youth participating in diversion and community service programs.
Build positive, consistent relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Coordinate meaningful community service projects and participant schedules.
Work alongside youth to provide encouragement, accountability and hands-on guidance.
Maintain accurate participant records, documentation and case information.
Communicate with schools, families, and LearningWorks partners.
Transport youth to and from approved activities in a LearningWorks vehicle.
Participate in physically active projects, including cleaning, landscaping, moving materials, light maintenance and repair.
Contribute to program development and continuous improvement.
This isn't a desk job-and that's the point.
You may begin your day coordinating schedules with a school or community partner, then pick up youth in a LearningWorks vehicle and head to a service project.
You'll work side-by-side with youth on projects such as park cleanups, gardening, beautification, nonprofit support or light maintenance. Along the way, you'll help participants practice teamwork, communication, responsibility and workplace skills.
You'll also document participant progress, coordinate upcoming assignments, communicate with community partners and help identify new service opportunities.
Expect a mix of mentoring, driving, hands-on community work, scheduling, documentation, relationship-building and problem-solving.

Knowledge of youth development, restorative practices, human services, education, community programs or juvenile justice is valuable.
Experience with volunteer coordination, landscaping, maintenance, construction, repair or tools is a plus.
Associate degree in criminal justice, human services, education or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience working with youth in education, community programs, juvenile justice, corrections, social services or a related setting.
Valid Maine driver's license and clean driving record.
Ability to frequently transport youth in a company-owned passenger van.
Ability to lift approximately 35-50 pounds and participate in physically active community service projects.
Bachelor's degree.
Experience with restorative justice or restorative practices.
Experience coordinating volunteers or community projects.
Experience working with schools, law enforcement, nonprofits or municipal agencies.
Landscaping, property maintenance, construction, repair or tool experience.
Experience with service documentation or case information.
