Job summary

State of Utah, Department of Health and Human Services, Utah Division of Juvenile Justice and Youth Services (JJYS) seeks Youth Development Associate or Specialist in Salt Lake City. Full-time, in-office role with competitive wage. Location: 3450 S 900 W, Salt Lake City, UT 84119. Background check and drug test required.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years working with at-risk youth and hold a Utah driver's license. Salary ranges are provided depending on the role and experience.

Qualifications

• Two years paid work with troubled or at-risk youth
• Valid Utah Driver's License
• Youth Development Associate: typically starts at $18.55/hour
• Youth Development Specialist: typically starts at $20.74/hour

Responsibilities

• Mentor and supervise high risk/violent youth offenders
• Schedule and supervise individual and group activities
• Write court reports, parole summaries, treatment plans and supervision standards
• Assist with teaching pro-social, academic and vocational skills
• Implement specialized treatment plans
• Co-facilitate sessions with a licensed mental health practitioner
• Complete Integrated Crisis Response within 90 days and provide crisis intervention
• Resolve potentially dangerous situations to ensure safety
• Transport youth
• Communicate information clearly in writing and read information
• Speak clearly and listen effectively
