Job summary

JJYS is seeking a Youth Development Associate/Specialist for the Salt Lake Valley Detention Center to provide supervision and guidance to youth with complex behavioral needs. The role emphasizes safety, record-keeping, and collaborative care with mental health professionals.

Compensation is hourly, with a range of duties including mentoring, program delivery, crisis intervention, and coordination of activities for youth. This full-time/part-time position is on-site in Salt Lake City, UT.

Qualifications

• Two years of paid working experience with troubled or at-risk youth.
• A valid Utah Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Provide security, supervision and control of youth with complex behavioral problems.
• Mentor and oversee high risk/violent youth offenders; supervise activities.
• Write court reports, parole summaries, treatment plans, and supervision standards.
• Assist with teaching pro-social, academic and vocational skills.
• Implement specialized treatment plans; co-facilitate sessions with a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner.
• Complete crisis intervention when necessary; ensure safety of staff, clients and the public.
