The Boys & Girls Club of Clifton is seeking a patient, engaging tutor to support students with academic assistance and homework help. The role focuses on reinforcing learning, building study habits, and boosting confidence in a positive setting.

Part-time, in-person position with afternoon hours (Monday–Thursday 3:00 PM–6:00 PM) and potential for additional hours. CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Position Overview

The Boys & Girls Club of Clifton is seeking a patient, engaging, and dependable tutor. The tutor will support students by providing academic assistance and homework help in a positive, encouraging environment. This position focuses on reinforcing classroom learning, improving study habits, and helping students build confidence in their academic skills. Tutors will work closely with staff to monitor progress and ensure each student’s individual needs are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide homework assistance and academic support to students in a variety of subjects.
• Create a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages participation and confidence.
• Reinforce classroom learning and help students develop effective study and organizational skills.
• Adapt tutoring methods to meet the individual learning needs of each student.
• Track student progress and communicate updates to program staff as needed.
• Encourage good study habits, responsibility, and a love for learning.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at all times.
• Support program activities and uphold the Boys & Girls Club’s mission and values.

Physical Demands

Standing, walking, run/jog, leaning, bending, sitting. Must be able to lift 30lbs.

• Reports any suspected abuse to the proper authorities, to ensure that the proper steps in reporting and documentation are completed.
• Adheres to all policies and procedures.
• Assume other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education

• Prior experience working with children or tutoring students preferred.

Part-time, in-person position. Monday–Thursday, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with potential for additional hours on Fridays.

Compensation: $15.92 Hourly
