The Salvation Army USA Southern Territory is seeking 4 Youth Development Professionals for the Sand Springs Red Shield Youth Centers in Sand Springs, OK. You will plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate youth activities, and help run special programs to support academic and character outcomes.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma or GED, with a commitment to ongoing professional development and the ability to work with diverse youth and families in a faith-based community.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate activities within the program area for the Red Shield Youth Center.
• Oversee special programs and events (e.g., Keystone, Youth of the Year, Awards).
• Provide supervision when needed to ensure continuity of services and coordinate with staff and volunteers.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with youth and families to advance The Salvation Army mission.

Job description

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, is looking for 4 Youth Development Professionals for our Sand Springs Red Shield Youth Centers, located in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

Job Summary:

Plans, implements, supervises members, and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area, supporting the Red Shield Youth Center priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship. May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e., Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary. In absence of the Program Coordinator, may provide supervision oversight to other Youth Development Professionals to ensure continuity of program services at unit/branch locations. Builds and maintains a professional relationship with all Youth Center members and their families in order to help advance the mission of The Salvation Army. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army. Ability interacts with children and teens with patience and respect. Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports in an accurate and complete manner. Ability to support and coordinate activities and events. Ability to clearly communicate roles and responsibilities to individuals and groups. Ability to schedule meetings. Ability to interact with co-workers, volunteers and the public in a positive, professional manner. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Ability to operate and generally maintain all office equipment, including but into limited to the copier, fax machine. Proficiency with Windows & Microsoft Office 365, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. and previous work in related field with Children and Youth preferred.

Commitment to actively participate in a Professional Development Plan including Level II & Levell III Training which includes completion of 20 Credit Hours of Red Shield Youth Centers of America Spillett Training.

Certifications:

Driver License preferred but not required.

Ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner. Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints. Ability to meet attendance requirements. Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
