Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Southern Territory in Houston, Texas is seeking a Youth Development Professional to plan, implement, supervise and evaluate activities within a Boys & Girls Club–aligned program.

You will support Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship; may oversee Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs, and you will build strong relationships with members and families to advance the mission.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; experience with Children and Youth preferred.
• Commitment to professional development; complete BGCA Spillett Training (20 credit hours).
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Youth Development Professional for the Houston Garden City, located in Houston, Texas.

Job Summary

Plans, implements, supervises members and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area, supporting the Boys & Girls Club priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship. May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary. In absence of the Program Coordinator; may provide supervision oversight to other Youth Development Professionals to ensure continuity of program services at unit/branch locations. Builds and maintains a professional relationship with all Club members and their families in order to help advance the mission of The Salvation Army.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or G.E.D. and previous work in related field with Children and Youth preferred and Commitment to actively participate in a Professional Development Plan including Level II & Levell III Training which includes completion of 20 Credit Hours of Boys & Girls Club of America Spillett Training.

Licenses & Certifications

Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.
