Job summary

Boys & Girls Club of Maury County is seeking motivated staff to run hands-on youth programs across its Mount Pleasant sites. The role focuses on Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship, with part-time hours and on-site duties.

You will prepare activities, supervise youth, and maintain a safe, engaging environment. Prior experience with children is preferred; punctuality and reliability are essential attributes for success.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma is required.
  • Some experience working with children is preferred, ideally in a Boys & Girls Club or similar setting.
  • Must relate to youth and keep activities FUN while maintaining order.
  • Teamwork, patience and creativity are essential.
  • Reliability and punctuality are critical; arrive on time and give full attention.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hands-on programs for youth aligned with Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles and Good Character & Citizenship.
  • Prepare for daily activities by reading lesson plans and setting materials.
  • Ensure safety, proper conduct and positive relationships with youth.
  • Maintain clean, safe, well-lit program areas and report attendance/timesheets on time.
  • Oversee special programs or events and participate in club activities as needed.
  • May drive the Club van or authorized vehicle when required.

Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
  • Responsible for executing hands-on programs with youth focused on achieving 3 priority outcomes: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship. Positions are available for all age groups, K-12th graders.
  • Prepare Youth for Success
  • Execute Club programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes, under the guidance of the Unit Director and Program Outcomes Directors
  • Facilitate fun and educational activities with kids, staying consistent with organizational goals and mission.
  • Read lesson plans, lay out materials in advance, and perform other tasks to prepare for day-to-day program activities.
  • Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s).
  • Maintain control of the group. Demonstrate leadership to ensure proper conduct, safety, and
    development of members. Implement discipline procedures when needed in accordance with the organization's discipline policy.
  • Form positive relationships with youth. Mentor, coach, and encourage them to believe in themselves and their dreams. Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate conduct at all times.
  • Keep members safe by following and enforcing all child safety policies and procedures in effect at your Club site.
  • Facility Maintenance
  • Ensure program areas are clean, safe, well ventilated and well-lit.
  • Make sure Club equipment is maintained in good working condition.
  • Clean your area at the end of each day.
  • Record Keeping
  • Take accurate attendance for each activity.
  • Turn in timesheets and other required paperwork on time

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards
    Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other club activities as necessary.
  • May be required to drive Club van or authorized automobile periodically.
  • May consult with parents concerning member and Club issues
  • Must work with predetermined group partner and be able to work as a team player with all peers.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • High School diploma
  • Some experience working with children is required. Previous experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities with groups of young people is strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to relate to young people and control a classroom, while also making sure activities are FUN for the youth.
  • Teamwork skills, patience, and creativity are a must.
  • Must be reliable and punctual-kids will be counting on you! Must show up on time and be ready to give them your full attention.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 25 per week

Summer Hours: 25 or more
