Job summary

The Salvation Army in Big Spring, TX is seeking a part-time Youth Program Assistant to support the Red Shield Youth Centers. You will plan, implement and supervise activities for youth, aligning with our program goals in academics, health, and character development.

A High School Diploma or GED is required, with prior work in youth settings preferred. A valid driver’s license and clear driving record are essential; CDL may be required in some cases. This role offers benefits and a day shift.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and previous work with children/youth preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record. CDL level license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Plans, implements and supervises program activities for members.
• Evaluates activities to support Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship.
• May oversee special programs/events (e.g., Keystone, Youth of the Year) and support unit activities.
• In the absence of the Program Coordinator, supervises other Youth Development Professionals to ensure continuity of services.
• Builds professional relationships with members and families to advance the Salvation Army mission.

Job Location: TX-Big Spring Corps - Big Spring, TX, Position Type: Part Time with Benefits 20 or More, Education Level: High School Diploma/GED, Salary Range: $12.00 - $14.00Hourly, Travel Percentage: Minimal, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Recreation, Plans, implements, supervises members and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area, supporting the Red Shield Youth Centers priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship. May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary. In absence of the Program Coordinator; may provide supervision oversight to other Youth Development Professionals to ensure continuity of program services at unit/branch locations. Builds and maintains a professional relationship with all Centers members and their families in order to help advance the mission of The Salvation Army.

Qualifications: Education and Experience

High School Diploma or G.E.D. and previous work in related field with Children and Youth preferred

Licenses & Certifications

Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record. If required, may have to possess a CDL level license.
