Job summary

The Salvation Army in Houston, TX seeks a part-time seasonal Youth Program Associate to plan and deliver engaging activities for Center members. You will support academic, character, and healthy-lifestyles outcomes through structured programs and supervise activities as needed.

You will work closely with staff and families to foster safe, inclusive environments, handle registrations, and model positive behavior.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience with children and youth preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL may be required.”

Job Location: TX-Houston Aldine Westfield Corps Red Shield Youth Center - Houston, TX 77093 Position Type: Seasonal Part Time Education Level: High School Diploma/GED Job Category: Recreation

This position is responsible for: Plans, implements, supervises members and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area, supporting the Red Shield Youth Centers priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship. May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary. In absence of the Program Coordinator; may provide supervision oversight to other Youth Development Professionals to ensure continuity of program services at unit/branch locations. Builds and maintains a professional relationship with all Centers members and their families in order to help advance the mission of The Salvation Army.

Creates an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:

  • Promotes and stimulates program participation.
  • Assists with registration of new members and participates in their Centers orientation process.
  • Provides guidance and role modeling to members.
  • Implements and administers programs, services and activities for Centers members in an effective manner.
  • May oversee special programs and services such as Youth of Year programs or Youth of the Month.

  • Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing and walking on a frequent change basis.
  • Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
What we are looking for in you

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D. AND Previous work in related field with Children and Youth preferred

Licenses & Certifications:

Must possess a valid driver's license and a clear driving record. If required, may have to possess a CDL level license.
