Job summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota is seeking a Youth Development Professional to plan and lead activities across program areas like Academic Success, Arts & Crafts, and Outdoor/Environment. You’ll foster positive youth development, ensure a safe, inclusive environment, and collaborate with staff to deliver high-quality programs.

Qualifications include strong youth engagement skills, flexibility and mobility, and the ability to pass a DHS background check.

Qualifications

  • Strong ability to engage and connect with youth in a group setting.
  • Flexibility, adaptability and mobility to supervise and support children.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols including emergency and lockdown procedures.
  • Familiarity with and adherence to all BGCMN policies and procedures.
  • Ability to pass a Department of Human Services background check.
  • Experience with youth programs and activity planning is preferred.

  • Foster an environment that supports positive youth development.
  • Plan, implement and lead engaging programs tailored to member interests.
  • Communicate effectively with youth and team members.
  • Complete program planners on schedule with age-appropriate activities.

If you would like to learn more about the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota, please visit Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota.Job Description SummaryPlan and lead a variety of activities within a specific program area, such as Academic Success, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, Outdoor/Environment and Physical Education.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesFoster an environment that supports positive youth development by:Encouraging and promoting active participation in programsProviding consistent guidance and positive role modelingEnsuring a safe, inclusive, and welcoming atmosphere for all youthDemonstrating a warm, caring attitude and using positive behavior management strategies with both individuals and groupsPlan, implement, and lead engaging programs, services, and activities tailored to the interests and needs of membersCommunicate effectively with youth and team members, contributing to a collaborative and supportive work environmentComplete program planners on schedule, incorporating creative, age-appropriate, and appealing activities in assigned program areasParticipate actively in staff meetings to support team coordination and program qualityPerform additional duties as assignedRequired Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong ability to engage and connect with youth in a group settingFlexibility, adaptability, and mobility in supervising and supporting children in various environmentsKnowledge of safety protocols including fire, severe weather, and lockdown proceduresFamiliarity with and adherence to all Boys & Girls Club/KIDSTOP policies and proceduresAccountability for the proper use and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and facility spaces, including daily cleaning and organizationAbility to pass a Department of Human Services background checkEducation & Work ExperienceExperience: One to three months of experience working with children preferredFundamental RelationshipsMaintains regular, daily interaction with youth and supervisors to provide support, share information, and reinforce program goals.
