Job summary

Oak Harbor Boys & Girls Club is seeking a Youth Development Professional in Oak Harbor, WA. You will support and implement quality programs to promote Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship for youth aged 5–18.

Under the Unit Director, you will help create a safe, fun environment, build confidence, and guide members through activities, with DCYF and BGCSC standards compliant supervision.

Qualifications

  • Sixteen (16) years of age or older, eighteen (18) preferred for DCYF supervision requirements.
  • Highschool Diploma, GED, or actively enrolled preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Program Director in planning and implementing activities for the members that provides a sense of belonging
  • Assists with managing program supplies and equipment
  • Engages in physical activities such as sports, S.T.E.M, and arts and crafts
  • Supervises the youth independently in regulation of WA State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) and Boys & Girls Club of America standard
  • Participate in active and engaged supervision for all members
  • Prepares snacks for members using while practicing food safety
  • Support member’s behavior using social emotional learning and trauma-informed practices
  • Work with a variety of youth from various backgrounds
  • Ensure youth are safe and engaged in activities, including all safety requirements for Boys & Girls Club such as the BGCSC Policies for Protection of the Youth
  • Create positive and supportive relationship with youth
  • Actively practice and participate BGCSC Cultural DNA guidelines
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of club, including but not limited to, all activity spaces, washing dishes, taking out trash, and organization of youth’s belongings
  • Maintain proper upkeep of equipment and supplies
  • Completes and maintains training and professional development as required
  • Other duties as assigned by Unit Director

Job Summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County (BGCSC) is a non-profit organization providing young people ages five (5) to eighteen (18) with a safe and positive place to spend their time before and after school and during the summer. Clubs are strategically located in neighborhoods and are accessible to all kids.

Under the supervision of the Unit Director, the Youth Development Professional is responsible for supporting and implementing a variety of quality programs and activities that lead to three (3) priority outcomes for youth: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship. Youth Development Professionals work with youth to create an environment that is safe and fun while helping members build confidence and skills.

Job Duties

Job Qualifications
  • Sixteen (16) years of age or older, eighteen (18) preferred for DCYF supervision requirements
  • Highschool Diploma, GED, or actively enrolled preferred
  • Ability to remain positive and organized in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to incorporate organizational values fun, respect, integrity, community, and acceptance into all practices
  • Prior experience working with youth or background in youth development preferred
  • Flexibility to work different hours based on seasonal and operational needs
  • Ability to pass a drug test upon hire
  • Ability to pass a background check in accordance with BGCSC standards and meet all state licensing requirements upon hire
  • Ability to motivate youth and support positive behavior guidance
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, including use of hands and fingers, with or without reasonable accommodation.
