The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest County is seeking a Youth Development Professional for the Alberhill Ranch Clubhouse in Lake Elsinore, CA. The role supports ages 6–14 with structured educational, social, athletic, and recreational activities, aligned to the club’s mission and core values.

Responsibilities include leading programs, orienting new members, promoting enrichment activities, mentoring youth, and assisting with volunteers.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree in psychology, social work, education, sociology, or related field preferred.
• High school diploma required.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Youth Development Professional’s number one priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of all youth members. The YDP plans and implements structured educational, social, athletic, and recreational programs and activities of the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest County for young people predominantly between the ages of 6 and 14. The YDP understands and implements the mission and core values of the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest County.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Program

• 1. Implement programs, services, and activities according to the Outcome-Driven Club Experience and overall mission and strategic plan of the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest County.
• 2. Organize and conduct programs following established program guidelines & activities.
• 3. Orient new members to their designated group as directed.
• 4. Promote enrichment activities and encourage participation by members.
• 5. Provide formal and informal guidance to the members.
• 6. Assist with supervising volunteers.

Safety and Facility

• 1. Ensure the wellness and safety of all members by following the guidelines set forth by the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest County.
• 2. Keep all equipment in good repair and ready for use.
• 3. Regularly scan areas for hazards or broken equipment and report them to the supervisor in a timely manner.
• 4. Keep all Club areas clean and orderly.
• 5. Abide by and enforce Boys & Girls Club of Southwest County rules and policies.
• 6. Required to complete the Child Safety trainings on Spillett Leadership University before working with youth.

Professional Development

• 1. Required to complete all three tracks of the Training Tracks program according to the following schedule:
• a. Track 1 completed within 60 days of hire.
• b. Track 2 completed within 120 days of hire.
• c. Track 3 completed within 180 days of hire.
• 2. Required to attend all program training provided by BGCSWC.
• 3. Complete all mandatory Spillett University courses annually.
• 4. Complete other Spillett University courses as assigned.

Other

• 1. Must be available Monday through Friday during regular program hours.
• 2. Must be available to assist at other locations as needed.
• 3. May be transferred to other locations permanently as needed.
• 4. Regular and predictable attendance is expected.
• 5. CPR & First Aid certified within 60 days of hire.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

• Two-year degree in psychology, social work, education, sociology, or a related field preferred. High school degree required.
• Establish positive and productive working relationships; able to generate trust; ability and willingness to give and receive honest, balanced feedback. Demonstrates competence and character that inspires trust.
• Good judgment, professionalism, strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative style, high integrity, tact, a positive attitude.
• Experience working with young people in a group setting (internships, student teaching and volunteer work may be acceptable).
• Decision making, planning, organizing, communicating, and analyzing skills required, as well as the ability to lead educational, social, athletic, and recreational activities in small and large group settings.
• CPR and First Aid certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Sitting: Frequent. Surfaces include chairs, benches, grass, ground, metal, wood, concrete.
• Talking/projecting voice: Very frequent. Speaks in normal conversational tones in person and on telephone. Also has ability to project voice in noisy and/or large areas.
• Vision: Read written lists, notices, etc. Able to visually supervise groups of children.
• Walking: Very frequent. Walking surfaces include asphalt, concrete, wood, carpet, tile, hiking trails.
• Lifting: Frequent. 10-20 lbs.- moving boxes of supplies and equipment.
• Climbing: Frequent. In and out of Club vehicles, up and down stairs.
• Running: During special events with children, playing or referee games.
