Job summary

Abraxas Youth and Family Services is seeking a Youth Development Operations Leader - Education. In this full-time role, you will mentor Youth Development Team Leaders, monitor processes, supervise clients, and document services in client files at the South Mountain location.

You will ensure daily activities run smoothly, enforce SOPs, and intervene in client behavior as needed while maintaining safety and program integrity. Competitive benefits follow after probation.

Qualifications

• Education and experience as specified in the job posting.
• Detention unit employees require an associate degree or 60 credits.
• Minimum six months of relevant Youth Development Team Leader experience.

Responsibilities

• Mentor Youth Development Team Leaders and monitor processes across units.
• Supervise and interact with clients, observing behavior and ensuring safety.
• Provide on-the-job training and document services in client files.
• Oversee daily activity implementation and adherence to SOPs and policy.
• Support client orientation and emergency procedures as needed.
• Address and intervene in client behavior while maintaining security.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will mentor Youth Development Team Leaders, assist in monitoring various processes on multiple units, supervise and interact with clients, observe and address client behavior, and document services in client files.

Job Duties Include, but not limited to:

• Oversee the implementation of activities which support the daily schedule
• Ensure standard operating procedures, program policy and procedures, and the client interventions process are implemented appropriately
• Interact with and supervise clients during daily activities in a manner that ensures their safety and security
• Provide effective people security (ex: class attendance, class headcounts, classroom transitions)
• Provide effective on-the-job training to Youth Development Team Leaders
• Observe client behavior and intervene appropriately.
• Support orientation of new clients into the learning center environment
• Document various educational data points
• Know and implement emergency procedures (e.g. evacuation, CPR/first aid)
• Support the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care
• Demonstrate appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Detention unit employees must have an associate’s degree or sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited college or university.
• Six (6) months’ experience as Youth Development Team Leader

Other Qualifications:

• At least twenty-one (21) years of age
• Must have a valid Driver's License
• Physical exam that includes TB and drug testing.
• Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
• Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks, including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
