Job summary

Alpha is recruiting a Youth Development Manager to lead Guides, coach teams, and shape life skills experiences for K-12 students across multiple campuses. You will drive student outcomes by building high-performing Guides, using data to refine coaching, and ensuring adherence to Alpha’s standards in a fast-growing network.

Role requires relocation-ready leaders with a track record in education or development, comfortable with on-site campus work and aggressive growth plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business or related discipline; Master's preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in education, coaching or leadership.
• Proven experience leading teams of five or more, including hiring and performance-based termination decisions.
• Verified track record of using data to drive improvements in performance.
• Experience working with children ages 5-14 within educational, coaching, or developmental contexts.
• Background in building or launching a new team, program, business, school, or initiative, with readiness to contribute to opening a new campus from the ground up.

This is neither an instructional coaching position nor a conventional teaching role. You won't be reviewing lesson plans or observing lectures—those don't exist here. Instead, your focus will be building a culture rooted in excellence: coaching your team of Guides, facilitating dynamic life skills workshops, and inspiring students toward ambitious achievement. Performance will be evaluated through the quality of student experiences, team effectiveness, and your capacity to uphold rigorous standards while motivating others to reach them.

What You Will Be Doing

• Supporting the launch and establishment of new Alpha campuses by fostering a culture grounded in excellence, accountability, and ongoing development.

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Delivering traditional academic instruction or subject-specific lectures.
• Developing lesson plans or designing academic curriculum.
• Compromising standards to create artificial feelings of success rather than facilitating genuine mastery.
• Leading a team remotely from an office without direct, regular involvement in coaching both students and Guides.
• Maintaining outdated methods simply because they represent established tradition.

Youth Development Manager Key Responsibilities

Basic Requirements

• Willingness to work on-site at an Alpha campus (relocation assistance available): Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Miami, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Boston, MA; Raleigh, NC; New York City, NY; Orange County, CA; Santa Barbara, CA
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in education, coaching, learning and development, or a comparable leadership capacity.
• Proven experience leading and developing teams of five or more individuals, including responsibility for hiring and performance-based termination decisions.
• Verified track record of using data to drive improvements in performance.
• Experience working with children ages 5-14 within an educational, coaching, or developmental context.
• Background in building or launching a new team, program, business, school, or initiative, with readiness to contribute to opening a new campus from the ground up.
• Commitment to working in a school model that rejects traditional lecture-based instruction.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
